Neo News: Week in Review – May 25 – May 31

General Updates

AxLabs launched Extended $GAS, or xGAS, a wrapped version of the native $GAS token on Neo X MainNet that adds a set of off-chain authorization features. The launch arrives alongside xGAS Station, a live companion app at xgas.axlabs.net that lets users wrap and unwrap $GAS into xGAS at a fixed 1:1 rate. xGAS can be used in contexts that $GAS cannot on the Neo X EVM sidechain, such as AI agent subscription payments. xGAS preserves the standard ERC-20 behavior that applications on Neo X expect, while layering on additional ways to authorize transfers.

GrantShares witnessed two proposal successfully execute requests for funding. First, World of Elements received five votes in favor of releasing 1,200 $GAS. Second, Raijin Protocol received four votes in favor and one in abstinence to release 7,500 $GAS.

Lichen launched its MainNet on May 31, with cross-chain support for Neo. The Lichen team aims to build a post-quantum custodial bridge with EVM compatibility that also supports Solana, BNB Smart Chain, and Neo.

Neo Red Pill launched a World Cup Prediction Challenge in the team’s official Discord server. Participants can predict the outcome of matches, compete against other community members, and win NRP token rewards. Neo Red Pill launched the NeoVision Discord Server this week, with a goal to create a community hub to unite Neo projects, builders, and the ecosystem.

SpoonOS distributed US $500 in $GAS tokens on Neo X to participants of the Agent Vibe Check campaign.

nDapp published its weekly N3 $GAS check-in, noting that network users claimed approximately 49,460 $GAS over the past week and that on-chain activity burned about 437 $GAS.

NNT hosted a GasBot Trivia round, where participants competed for a pool of 4 $GAS rewards.

Frank Coin hosted a Neo trivia contest on Telegram, where the top players earned 100 FRANK tokens, and ten random players won 40 FRANK tokens.

NNT hosted Crypto Coffee and Blockchain Beer Spaces #97 on the official The Smart Economy Podcast X account, with special guest AxLabs co-founder Guil. Sperb Machado. Topics of discussion included the various AI agentic EVM protocols and standards, potential use cases for on-chain AI agent payments, why AxLabs built a lean xGAS contract for $GAS, and the x402 standard and building for Web2/Web3 overlaps.
