During the Token2049 event in Singapore, Vitalik Buterin — Ethereum co-creator, and Dr. Xiao Feng from HashKey Group, announced a new initiative. It is called the Ethereum Applications Guild (EAG).

The goal of this is to connect developers, researchers, and companies within the Ethereum community. They want to create a better way for everyone to work together openly and sustainably. The EAG is not a new company or a traditional fund. Instead, it is an open call for cooperation.

Partners plan to use the Shanhaiwoo — a collaborative project they have been running for three years — as a place to test and develop new applications. The main vision is to help the Ethereum ecosystem grow beyond its focus on infrastructure and build more practical, widely-used applications.

The initiative is currently in its early stages. The founders are now inviting other groups from around the world to join them. They are calling on technology companies, developer communities, and research institutions to help create this new model for collaboration.
