Lubin Hails Vitalik Buterin as Ethereum’s Most Important Steward Amid Sci-Fi Novel Commotion

Ethereum co-founder and Consensys CEO Joseph Lubin has re-emerged on social media to defend the latest intellectual endeavour of the latest intellectual endeavor of Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin: authoring a science fiction novel.

Lubin praised Buterin as an “enormously effective communicator,” stating that he remains “the most important contributor to and steward of the Ethereum ecosystem.”

Amid a brutal Ethereum price correction, the community is perplexed by some of Buterin’s personal choices.

Buterin is currently in the middle of writing a science fiction novel focused on decentralized governance.

The Canadian prodigy announced the project on the decentralized social protocol Farcaster, attracting rather mixed reactions among ETH fans.

Buterin has already published the first two chapters directly on his personal website.

The novel is set in a fictional nation, in which he explores and tests sophisticated mechanisms like quadratic voting and decision-making assisted by artificial intelligence.

The literary endeavor, which has raised some eyebrows within the cryptocurrency community, is meant to expose the limitations of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs), which include financial imbalances and so on.

Some community members have publicly bashed Buterin.

On top of the significant price drop, the Ethereum Foundation has been hit by the departure of nine core members.

Lubin, however, has fiercely defended the project.

“Anyone who thinks that by writing fiction Vitalik isn’t choosing the most effective way he can think of to further the growth and adoption of Ethereum is missing the point,” Lubin argued.

Lubin believes that this artistic exploration of privacy and cypherpunk themes can be tied to the necessity of the Ethereum network. He noted that while “collective capitalism” will likely be incorporated at the foundational layers of the economy, the world desperately needs a “genuinely credibly neutral global coordination and digital asset settlement platform.”

According to Lubin, the Ethereum Foundation is currently the only entity configured to safeguard this specific vision of “credible neutrality, censorship resistance, open source and privacy.”
